Work with me
Building software and AI applications, leading and building engineering teams, working with suppliers, and bringing systems back under control.
I decide what is worth building, build the first working version, and set up the path into continued development and operation. I take on any part of that: hands-on development, an interim lead role, or part-time advice alongside your team.
Build
Software and AI applications, from the first version to the one that runs.
AI applications
I build applications that put language models, search and your own data to work on a defined job, and I hand them over in a state a team can run. I use AI-assisted development throughout: architecture, implementation, testing and review.
Done beforeDesigned, built and handed over an Azure data and AI application that combines public geospatial data with internal project and CRM data. I delivered the expanded MVP alone in three months, at a fifth of the budget a systems integrator had proposed.
Fast prototypes
A working first version that shows whether an idea holds before anyone writes a specification or an RFP. Real users try it, and afterwards it is either carried forward on purpose or thrown away.
Done beforeBuilt the first version of a test-management system for factory testing to prove the model, then turned it into the RFP and target architecture. My own products are under Work.
Architecture
End-to-end solution architecture, from discovery and prototype through rollout and operation: data, integration, security, and who runs the system once it is live.
Done beforeFive years of technical responsibility for the applications behind global engineering at a power-grid technology business, from first analysis through architecture, supplier delivery, international rollout and operation.
Lead
Engineering teams: running one, building one, and how it works.
Interim engineering lead
I step in as interim manager or technical lead. I set priorities, carry the roadmap through technical debt, tight budgets and dependencies on other systems, and prepare the team to take it over.
Done beforeAs interim manager of a new product-engineering team in two countries, I onboarded and coached the team leads and helped the team agree how to organise work, make decisions, and own development, testing and releases.
Building a team
I work out the team a product needs (size, structure, roles and skills), then hire it with your HR, onboard it, and set up how it delivers.
Done beforeBuilt an engineering team from an empty office: defined the roles, ran around 250 interviews with HR, and hired more than twenty people in two countries, including the team leads.
SDLC coaching
Delivery and quality practices a team keeps using: how work is planned, reviewed, tested and released, with compliance, cybersecurity and cloud governance built in. Where AI-assisted development comes in, every feature starts with a clear purpose and constraints, and verification goes past the generated tests to purpose, edge cases and operational impact.
Done beforeSet up onboarding, delivery and quality practices for the new team, and was accountable for SDLC, compliance and cybersecurity through the transition.
Source
Suppliers: choosing them, leading them, and taking work back from them.
RFPs
I turn a validated concept into a request for proposal that suppliers can price: requirements, target architecture, evaluation and selection.
Done beforeRan the RFPs for a factory test-management platform and for a collaboration platform shared by country organisations, from validated concept through supplier selection.
Vendor management
I lead suppliers through delivery and rollout: scope, priorities and quality, plus a second opinion on what a quote should cost.
Done beforeLed suppliers through delivery, international rollout and the set-up of operations and support abroad. On a platform migration, coordinated vendors and at times more than twenty delivery people.
Insourcing
I bring a system in from an outside provider without stopping it: find out what you actually have, define the sourcing model, move knowledge and responsibility across, and keep outside specialists on as contingency.
Done beforeMoved a global traceability system serving more than 300 suppliers from the provider that built it to a new internal team. The system stayed live throughout, including through a corporate carve-out.
Recover
Systems in trouble, old systems to replace, and data to decide with.
Production recovery
For a live system that has outgrown its architecture: I assess the code, performance and delivery capacity, fix what is critical, handle the incidents, and set the technical direction.
Done beforeReviewed and tuned the codebase of a global platform serving more than 300 suppliers, shipped the critical fixes, and supported P1 incidents and escalations while the recovery was planned.
Migrations
Replacing an old system along with everything around it: data migration, integrations, configuration, and getting people to use the new one.
Done beforeLed the move of a core platform with thousands of users from a proprietary legacy system to an enterprise asset-management platform, including the asset and grid-topology data model, ETL and reporting.
Data and reporting
ETL, data models and Power BI reporting on the Microsoft data stack (SQL Server, Fabric, Data Factory) for the decisions management has to make.
Done beforeA statistical forecast combining product-lifecycle, supplier, traceability and sales data that supported USD 20 million in semiconductor orders during the global chip shortage.
